CHINESE NEW YEAR 2013 - YEAR OF THE SNAKE

Chinese New Year falls today Sunday February 10, ushering in the year of the Snake. It is also known as the spring festival. In Chinese calendar, each year is represented by one of the twelve animals. 2013  is the year of the black water snake. There were wonderful celebrations held yesterday and today across the world with parades, floats, lanterns, acrobatics, stage performances, food and craft stalls, traditional dances. The grand finale of the celebration would be the fireworks.

Jinyumangtang” – (May wealth fill your hall!); “Dazhanhongtu” (May you realize your aspirations!); “Wanshiruyi” (May your wishes be fulfilled!) are some of the Chinese traditional greetings exchanged between people. A Chan Patriarch Buddhist saying goes, “Everyday is a good day.  Make every day a daily New Year celebration".
